No supermarkets on Wednesday 28 October

It's Budget Day. For one day, don't buy anything from a supermarket. Food prices have to come down, and this is how we say so.

What is it?

We're Not Buying It is a one-day boycott of UK supermarkets on Wednesday 28 October, the day the government delivers its Budget.

No big shop, no top-up shop, no meal deal, no online order. In store and online, for 24 hours, we spend nothing with them.

The campaign is asking the government to use the Budget to put an immediate price cap on essential food items.

Why are we doing it?

Food is a basic need. Being able to afford it shouldn't be too much to ask.

The weekly shop costs far more than it did a few years ago and wages haven't kept up. Families are skipping meals, swapping down and leaving things at the till, while the biggest supermarkets keep reporting healthy profits.

One person staying at home changes nothing. Millions of us doing it on the same day, on the day the Chancellor stands up, is a number that both the supermarkets and the government will have to look at.
